Deja Brockett
Associate Counselor
With a bachelor’s in science degree in Criminal Justice from Bowie State University, Deja developed a strong foundation in understanding systemic issues and their impact on individuals and communities. After taking a year off in 2022 for reflection and personal growth, Deja discovered my true passion lies in mental health. This realization led her back to Bowie State University, where she is currently pursuing her master's degree in Mental Health Counseling.
Deja has always been deeply drawn to understanding people and assisting them in overcoming personal challenges. This passion has shaped her approach to counseling, where she prioritizes empathy, collaboration, and evidence-based practices. Her primary theoretical orientations include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and person-centered therapy, all of which allow her to tailor interventions to meet her clients' unique needs. At the same time, Deja is committed to professional growth and actively working on integrating additional frameworks, such as psychodynamic therapy and rational emotive behavior therapy (REBT), to enrich her practice.
Through Deja’s academic and professional journey, she aims to empower individuals by fostering resilience and facilitating positive change, drawing on her dedication to mental health and her drive to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
