Furtuna strives to provide a safe place for clients and foster a strong therapeutic alliance for clients to feel empowered and reach their goals. Receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Conflict Analysis and Dispute Resolutions at Salisbury University and a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The Chicago School, and is currently a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor.
Growing up in Washington, D.C., as the child of Eritrean immigrants, Furtuna developed a strong appreciation for cultural diversity and the unique experiences that shape each individual’s perspective. Through culturally competent counseling, and she is committed to helping clients feel seen, respected, and empowered as they explore their own identities and worldviews.
Furtuna often uses Dialectal and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but incorporates a range of theoretical orientations to best fit the unique needs of every client. Furtuna has experience working with children, adolescents and young adults with mood, neurodevelopmental and anxiety disorders in both school and hospital settings.
